now the funny thing is after talking to the privet owner i realized it is someone i know that is selling it. after bs'ing a bit and catching up over what we have both been up to for the last couple years (used to run together pulling tanker in the oil feilds)

he said only issues it has is nearing needing a set of drive tires

air hose is broken on the air slide 5th wheel and when he tried moving it before hooked air to the line and got the pins released but the slides are frozen. (don't care about that)

can't get it to idle up (raise the idle rpms with the cruse control) when the breaks are set but will if the breaks are released. (what could this be program issue or hardware? simple fix or no?)

asking price 17,500

any opinions?

If you can talk him into letting it be test run with your loaded trailer, you might find more with it in a short run?

Nice deal IMO especially with the new heads. That's 20k easy with Mack doing the work. Had same truck with a 380, #### good dawg! Got warranty too?

Sensors are a problem tho.....carry paper clips. Get Mack to turn off that shut down system too. Run low on water or sensor fail and it shuts down.

Thumbs up from me tho....I think you'll be happy.

almost forgot he said the volt gauge in the dash is not working as well.

it was kinda weird that it turned out that i knew the guy and also know the truck (its been a few years sense i last saw the truck, i also remember when he had the motor rebuilt.

we went separate ways he is now back where he is from and hauling flatbed and im hauling gravel now, but we both worked together for a few years, i feel he is giving it to me straight on the truck. but i haven't had a chance to go look it over for myself yet.

A buddy had a 2001 pretty much same specs he was always at the top for fuel mileage .. Other than a few injectors which he said were cheap compared to most others and axle bearings it went 1.4 millon miles trouble free till he hit a moose and wrote it off .. It wasn't the fastest on acceleration but once moving held pretty good we pull 95,000lbs on average

Magoo is right......mine was a dog out of the hole but she would pull a load at 75 all day long. No worries on the parts, gauges etc. Ebay is littered with parts and I have left overs too.

Grab it if you can..... Mack holds value too......

well i made a deal on it, should have it next week
he is throwing on a set of recap drives at %80
re-installing the wet kit, with new fluid and new filter.
removing the headache rack and putting the factory exhaust stand back on it.
total on the truck 17k

then he is going to deliver it to me for 1k in cash.

i haven't gone and seen the truck yet so i agree'd to the deal sight unseen hopefully that wont turn out to be a mistake but iv known the guy for years and i called one of his ex drivers that used to drive the truck that i also know well and he said its a good truck, with the work he has done to it and the price i think its worth the gamble. the engine rebuild cost him as much as im paying for the truck, he is selling it because he is downsizing.

the actual transaction isn't going to take place until the truck is delivered to me but the deal is made.

Forgot a couple of things.....read the shop ticket and see if they put in the upgraded oil pump. The original E7 pump did not put enough oil to the valve train and shortened the engine life. Mack came up with an improved version that moved more volume.

On mine....the dip stick tab had cracked and the shop brazed it....that eventually broke off one day........well I figured I would find it on the plug magnet down the road....( buzzer sounds, wrong answer ) it did not fall into the pan but instead got caught in the oil pump drive and shattered the drive. It was a fun day indeed and that was the first time I was glad it had the automatic shut down system.

this truck has the 460 e7 and suppose to be 460hp but iv seen others that are listed as 460 e7's with various other horsepower ratings. is 460 the model of the motor and also happens to be the horsepower? are there factory rating higher than 460hp for the 460e7? is it possibility to factory uprate this motor higher than 460hp? i think 460 will feel like a race car compared to what i got now just curious more than anything.

i do plan to add a pusher axle to this truck and run around 92k loaded
