My uncle is trying to get a truck, so he's got down to 4 and I dont know what to recommend.
1st
2011 KW T660 with 485 ISX, "NO DEF" 615k miles
-13 spd, 86" sleeper
2nd
2012 KW T660 -450 ISX "with def" 10 spd 550k miles and

$4k more
3rd
2012 Pete 587 MX 435 "WITH DEF" 550k miles -13 spd
4th
2011 Pete 386 ISX 485 "NO DEF" 590k miles
13 spd and APU

same price on all but the 2012 t660.

What you guys with experience on these would say is the better deal?
Which one will do better mpgs and which one would do less downtime?
What should we ask the dealer for when purchasing?
Thanks for the input.

Somehow I am not having too much faith in the 1st def cummins, what do you think? Is this the motor that needs a rebuild every 400k-500k miles?

I would get the first truck. Why pay extra for def?

Well, the reason you would pay extra for that DEF truck is they typically do better on fuel economy that something with out DEF and are a lot more reliable too.

IMHO post DPF/pre DEF engines are the worst motors ever. I'd never own one again. Ever. Actually to be honest everything you listed is a problem child (which is why the prices are low). Any DPF engine is garbage, early DEF cummins trucks had a ton of issues and still do, and the early MX's had a lot of issues as well. The only MX I'd recommend is a 2015 500/1850 and it seems to be absolutely phenominal.

I heard that post 2013 cummins isx has less breakdown than earlier def isx.
