What would cause the clutch to be harder to push to the floor?

Last night my clutch got a lot harder to push to the floor. The top half feels the same as usual, but about halfway through the stroke in gets hard.

What may cause this? I had it adjusted in June and it has been fine. Are there any indicators before it starts slipping? Or is this an indicator?

A little more info would help vehicle make and year, is the clutch hydraulic activated or linkage, is it a manual trans or a auto with clutch?
