My 6NZ cat in 02 9400 has developed some running issues. At about 1300 RPM it starts to "cutout". It does this loaded and empty I can just feel it more when empty. It happens between 1300 and 1500 RPM. In lower gears, say 4th, at 1300 going across a parking lot for instance, it felt as bucking. Above 1500 it runs fine. Has any else experienced symptoms such as this that can maybe give me some idea what could be causing this. Thanks in advance

See if you can find a throttle sensor and swap. You will need to calibrate also. Sounds to me like a dead spot in the pedal. Find somebody to let you borrow theirs before buying one, it's a simple swap. Calibrate turn key on, press pedal fully to floor three times and then key off again.

where to begin? check fuel pressure, filters, plug in et to see what is going on, could be a cam or crank sensor, or a wire harness issue. or an injector acting up. again plug into the laptop to see before throwing $$$ and parts at it.

quick check....get out on the highway and put into cruise...run up and down past the rpm range that is giving your problems. If it does not do it, but does on on foot throttle...it is the throttle position sensor. The cruise is run by the ECM and does not use input through the TPS. Its an 02 and if has never had one its probably time. They'll only progressively get worse. Its an easy fix. As already said test before buying parts. This will tell you real quick if its the TPS...have replaced 4 or 5 this past year on 99-03's. Seems like about the right area for yours.

Hi guys. Sorry I hadn't posted anything, but I was running hard and taking my 10 in the bunk, no time for the computer.

I tried this today. On cruise, it seems to do OK, but on the pedal it runs erratic. And it is getting worse. Now, where is the TPS? At the pedal or on the engine. I really appreciate the help.

It's on side of pedal. Has a three wire plug, easy to change just be sure and do the recalibration on new one.

Thanks for the reply. Is the sensor a Cat part, or an International part, or just general aftermarket? Thanks.

It's usually a caterpillar part, could be Williams, but should find it anywhere.
