Most shops, including TA Petro have a laptop that plugs in to the data port, it will tell you where the problem is.
FYI after you replace a sensor or wire the light may not go out, you need to cycle the system by bob tailing (on gravel) and hit the brakes hard enough to activate the ABS.

My 2000 379 and my 2005 T-600 both had a small 1/2" square button way up under the dash, had to push it 3 times quickly and the ABS light will blink out a code. The Button on the Pete was black and very hard to see even with a flashlight, and the KW's was white and relatively easy to see once you are standing on your head. My local (Cincinnati) KW dealer deciphered the code for me.

Put a piece of electrical tape over the light. They don't call it a"BS" light for nothing. :biggrin_2559:

They all have blink codes, but not every truck is wired for the blink code switch. Identify the system 1st, Wabco or Bendix most likely. Both have service manuals online for free. If your truck does not have the blink code switch installed, you can use the wiring diagram in the service manual to wire one yourself.

U all guys do the same mistake.

Before looking for ability to diagnose ABS - identify it first. And U may have EBS (not ABS) but trucktor light is the same.

There are over twony popular trailer ABS and EBS systems.
Truck year of make is not important. WHat year is trailer, what ABS unit, what brand? what Part #? U have to jump under the trailer and check it!

Usually US trailer makers install Wabco VCS ore VCS-II, Hadex ABS (black box) ore Knorr KB series (with Bendix logo).

They all share J1708/1587 codes (if support as MID137), but some units like Haldex have LED display under cover held with torx bolts, Wabco prefere ISO 9141 diagnostics, but VCS had LED for blink codes.

EBS may be diagnosed by CAN ore by ISO cabel...

Ok, identify unit and I will say how to check

    Oldironfan Thanks this.

if its a bendix abs system ( or eaton) get me a part number and ill let you know which document would give the appropriate service manual for it. And not all system share the same codes. so make sure you have the right information before you go chasing a ghost.

    baha Thanks this.
