low and high range,, sticking

    so its getting colder out and my low and high range has been sticking. I replaced valve on side of transmission,, and well that didn't help.

    it's a Eaton 9 speed that has had been converted to 13 speed.. was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how did you fix it? going to try adding some Lucas to it or drain it and make sure its got synthetic in it. any suggestions? once its warmed up works fine, just had to do laps around lot to warm it up in low range.

    Look on rear of trans. for a small air filter on air lines that go to piston that pushes piston inside back box it will screw off an poss. full of water? if not o/rings on air piston may need replaced.

    On that same note. That filter also houses an air regulator. I have seen this twice. Took it apart several times and cleaned filter to no avail. To work correctly you have to have 66psi of air. There is a spring on the inside of the regulator that weakens over time. You'll see this more when cold, just as you are. If cleaning the filter does not help, take a penny or a dime and place under the spring. This will boost the air psi just a bit. If this fixes the sticking/sluggishness replace the regulator/filter housing. They come together and take just a few to change out. Just a quick test if the cleaning the filter doesn't help.
