Stuck at a truckstop that does not sell Davco fuel filters or any fuel filters for that fact. Not sure I can make it 25 miles to a place that has them. So, I'm either going to call NAPA truck center and have them bring me a few or someone may have an idea. Can you take the filter out and run like that?

Yes you can take the filter out in an emergency. But I would only do it if you have a secondary filter on the engine. Then when you get to where you have to go change both filters and find out why the Davao was plugged in the first place

Thanks! Found out there is a Napa 10 minutes away and they are delivering filter in 1/2 an hour. I could drive it but it's getting real bad quick. Sounds like a freight train chugging. Can't build up the RPM's because it's starving for fuel.

If your Davao is plugged , the fuel should be right to the top in the sight glass.

Did is you get a bad batch of fuel or just don't belive in preventive maintenance. :biggrin_25526:

Those davcos clearly let you know when they need a filter change.

Glad you got it figured out thou!

I always carry extra filters because my fuel level seems to go right to the change mark at the top of the filter pretty fast and I just keep going until I feel like I got my money's worth. But, I've never felt it bog down before. Just changed my filter yesterday, switched over to Donaldson from fleet guard and it's right at the middle of the filter already today. I'm going to release the top cap in the morning to see if it just has some vacuum, but I don't know why those fleet guards showed clogged so fast.

Make it out of there alright? What do they charge for delivery? Did you buy an extra one for next time?

There is a standard filter that will spin right on it.

Davco is a cartridge filter in a bubble.

Everything all set. No delivery charge. I bought 2 of them. $32.00. The kid showed up 1/2 an hour before he was suppose to. I'm assuming the manager said I was going to pay in cash with $40.00. They only had 2 in stock or I would have bought them all. Mine takes a 10 micron filter and truck stops only carry 25 micron.

It was 8 degrees out. My fuel wasn't treated by me. I put 100 gallons in Nebraska and assumed it was treated there. The Davco has a petcock on the bottom for draining fuel so I filled up an empty glass container so I could fill it back up. When I looked at the fuel. It had all little slivers of something floating around????? Wax? I dumped in some Howes after seeing that.

8 degrees F? We are seeing the new Ultralow sulphur diesel is gelling a lot warmer then the good ol' fashion diesel did years ago.
