Hi Guys and Gals, I have a Question Mostly for Owner Ops and Mechanics
I have a 95 International Eagle Pro Sleeper 12.7 Detroit,13 spd Upside down H Transmission that runs Great with No Problems
Been having over a year and a half, i change my oil every 10,000 Miles along with a Bottle of Lucas Oil Stabilizer
I bought 3 new drive tires cause the old ones were worn out

KNOCK ON WOOD I HAVENT HAD ANY MAJOR PROBLEMS-yet, Lol i dont wanna say that too LOUD!!
Anyhoot got the truck at a price i just Couldnt REFUSE, PAID CASH
A rack job was done on it a few years ago and the rear end was also redone at the same time
No blowby, My mechanic checked it out before i got it and he was Pleased with it

Hes moved on to another state now and quite FRANK, i dont TRUST just any old Joe Smoe with Suspenders around my babys
Thats how i am with my Personal Vehicles i own also, been that way for years

It came with Headache Rack, Chains, Binders, Air Hoses, Everything i need to Run Oilfield Execpt Trailer
Since i had it i have changed the Alternator, Fuel Sending Unit because i hate playing the Fuel Guessing Game lol, Brakes all the way around, new Slack Adjusters, Vacuumed and charged AC System,Tightened up UBolts one were a lil loose, replaced Air bag because of leak in it & thats it

    My MILLION DOLLAR Question is?
Im real Big on Preventitive Maintenance guys, I grease my truck sometime twice a month
Im always looking for problems during Pre Trip

    POINT BLANK
I HATE BEING STUCK ON SIDE OF THE ROAD
If i can avoid it at any cost i will, that being said Its not always da Case and MACHINES WILL BRAKE
IT DOESNT MATTER IF ITS OLD OR IF ITS NEW, JUST A MATTER OF TIME

I want to start changing Minor Parts out now like water pump, thermostat, Air hoses,Coolant lines, Belts,Harmonic Balancer because eventually i will get Inframe done, Shopping around for Rebuild kits online and Mortar stores also
Or should i just wait since it aint broke & not giving me PROBLEMS and dont touch it, or just do everthjng at once?
I dont plan on selling her NO TIME SOON!

If any of you guys and Gals, Experienced this or thought about it as well, Please do share your Expereinces and inputs
Thanks for your help in advance!

The trick is to make a plan.
How long do you intend to keep the truck?
    How many more miles?
Do you plan to rebuild the engine at some point?
Plan and then look to replace parts before they break or ,and this is something a lot off people forget, they cost you more then the replacement part costs.

A friend off mine replaced his turbo 2 weeks ago and he is allready seeing a big improvement in MPG.
To cut a long story short,he waited to long to replace that turbo evendough the turbo wasn't really "broken".

See Xactlydaf105paccar u know exactly what im saying, i dont plan on getting rid of her no time soon, id rather REINVEST then STRESS, if you get my Drift i dont mind puting 10-15,000 in it to win it, i just cant DEAL WITH BEING STRESSED OUT,knowing i may want time off, but cant do it because i have a $600 note that has to be paid everyweek,

NOT GUNNA DO IT, alot of people talk about old trucks because either A. they dont like em n prefer new ones, or B.They dont know how to work on em,

I hear soooo many people complain and talk about the EGR, REGEN, DPF crap til its a shame, I do not want to deal with that, i dont mind the Fuel not being as savy as the new ones, but you gotta REMEMBER its alot of NEWER TRUCKS u c on side da road then Old ones

    But to answer your questions
    Yes im keeping it,
    Yes i plan on rebuilding
Its paid for and its mines
I wanna start by changing the water pump, thermostats, air lines, the belt tensioner, the pulleys

Stuff like that lil bit by lil bit
The rear end is new, the rack is recent enuff

I wanna pull the crank,Bullgear, oil pump, bearings but i mite hold off on that until i do the rebuild
I think ima just start with the small stuff and order lil bit by lil bit til i finally have my rebuild kit
Then Inframe, because i know its IF, but WHEN

Sounds like you have your mind made up. I think what you are wanting to hear is a confirmation that you are doing the right thing.

I'd do the bull gear if you don't know when it was last done, if ever. But a crank, bearings and oil pump? Those aren't things that are known for being a problem. I wouldn't touch them until the engine was ready to be rebuilt. Have oil samples done on it periodically, it will tell you when it's time before it leaves you on the side of the road cussing it.

The Challenger, MJ1657 and 30-aught-6 Thank this.

Rotflmao, lol yeah u right bout the cussing part, i just dont like throwing money at a preventable problem i guess, but hey this is the trucking business and stuff happens all da time, plus theres no 100% Proof concrete way to know when a machine is about to break,

But the oil pump and bearings, ima wait for that, i guess my final decison is to change the parts on the outside of the motor, little bit by little bit, and just keep my Maintenance account up to Par for when that time comes to INFRAME, thanks guys

Being a 95 Id suspect it's been rebuilt once already .. Get bull gear checked and just run it ... For all you know the block could be marginal to rebuild when Inframe times comes and need to be out of framed .. More and more you hear of guys inframing a 20 year old engine with a few millon on the clock only to find out it should of never been rebuilt in the first place but good blocks are getting rare ..

Even a fresh rebuild can have a catastrophic failure. I'd just check the bull gear and run the snot out of it. I'd throw a bypass oil filter on, and get regular samples.
