most trucks these days don't have hour timers.

25,000 miles is the general consensus. but it varies from company to company and o/o's.

640 hours for me/ 25,000 miles. 2013 Detroit DD15 severe service hauling 140,000 lbs super-b, some gravel roads. Manual says 60,000 miles for 5 axle running the interstate.

Thank you for the replys! I usually Change mine pretty early cause I get quite a bit of idle time on many job sites. But she has 517k miles and great power and zero blowby!

    All trucks measure hours.

I change mine every 300 hours.

I get a PM at 15,000 miles. When I had a warranty company, that was their window, and it makes sense.

I set my oil changes at 25,000 miles or 500 hrs, whichever comes first. Each engine, and owner for that matter, is different. I start with the OEM guidelines at first, do a few oil changes including oil sampling. If I can go a little longer, I gradually stretch things out to my comfort level. Not trying to set a record for oil change intervals. But the OEM oil change intervals are generally pretty conservative. My Series 60 had a recommended OCI of 15,000 miles / 300 hrs when it was built. I am comfortable at 25,000 miles / 500 hrs since we have ULSD, I get over 7 mpg average, and CJ-4 oils. When the manual was written for my engine (pre-egr) we still had LSD and CI-4 oils. My OCI matches the OEM recommended OCI of the Series 60 engines with EGR that came after mine. I haven't changed oil at less than 20,000 miles / 400 hrs since around 1990.

Like was stated, all trucks show hours. You just have to cycle thru the button on the dash, usually near the odometer, to get to hours.

    dustinbrock Thanks this.

I agree with that 100%. Guess I should mention that I do 300 hours because my fuel mileage is horrible hauling 140,000 with the one truck and the others being offroad.

My 2014 volvo d16 manual bases it on fuel consumotion.
