The head gasket on my second Aeromax let go. We pulled it down to find it let go in the relief cut between 5 and 6. I took the head to same machine shop that Michigan Cat uses. They called and it didn't pass magna flux inspection. So the big question is what is the better way to go? Reman from cat or buy the new head and have my valve train put in that? Can I even get a head without the relief cut? Expense isn't the issue.

I have a 6TS and with 200K on it I am doing injector cups. Its a reman aftermarket head. Lucky for me it wasnt grooved out where the cup O-rings were, but thats very possible on an aftermarket cat head...

I was leaning toward a new casting so I wouldn't have to worry about the deck being cut, but if they are using all new castings at this point I should be safe then.

A new cylinder head is not going to cure a low liner. Definitely check your liner protrusion and make sure they are all up to spec, or you'll be going back and re-doing it before too long.
