I have a savage amount of oil coming out of the lower turbo (sdp engine). I used 20L in no time, and can see its dripping from the turbo outlet clamp.... now I have been battling a low boost and low hp problem for a while now and don't know if this is related.
I have 40 lbs of boost right now and have the whole time. With the tune I have on this thing I've been told I should be pushing 50+ and 600rwhp (which I'm at 480rwhp).
As far as I though turbos either work or they don't, is that true or could this turbo have been slowly failing and causing my low power the whole time (3 months)
Should I still have 40 lbs even if the turbo is cooked or is that a sign that maybe I have a way bigger problem?
Please let me know what you think, not like the truck isn't due for some love as its just shy of a million miles of running reefer to cali......... till I got it hehe.
2008 cat c15 turbo blown...... or worse? HELP!!!

To add to that. There's a chance (if turbo seals can slowly go) that oil could have been pushing throught the whole time unnoticed as we have been using oil since I bought it 3 months ago but it turned out the air system was filling with oil so we replaced the compressor... maybe it was pushing through the turbo too?

If it is turbo seal I hope you have a air gulitine to shut air off if it decides to runaway on you

It sounds like the turbo seals could be shot, but not a blown turbo. Like above, I'd be gettin it in right away before it runs away on ya. Let CAT have a look at it, not a truck dealer, and they will give ya the proper diagnosis. Its much cheaper to have a turbo rebuilt then to buy a new one, if the engine doesnt self destruct first.

If it's just pushing oil out of the bottom turbo straight out the exhaust pipe past the distributor looking thingamajigger can it harm the engine? Would I be sage to bobtail 100 miles to the nearest dealership? No cat places for 300 miles only cat cert dealers.
What is the distributor looking thing? Is that the ard head, and will I need to change it as its all gunked up with oil? -
I had the same problem with oil in my air system after my turbo blew. Don't understand how that happened but it did. It has since cleared up, but how much do you think it affected my air system?

I got my air compressor changed and he flushed out the system. From what I was told is oil won't hurt it. Get the most out by building it up and draining the tanks and the rest will slowly work it's way out through braking etc, my mechanic said the oil will just lubricate everything a bit and not cause any harm.

Thanks for the comeback DB. Yeah it seems my air system is clean now. I don't have any issues at all.i have a new compressor on the shelf ready to go, but I guess I'm in the " if it ain't broke don't fix it " mode. Good air pressure, good braking power, heavy hauler by the way, so I'll keep an eye on it . Thanks again for the comeback. Keep the shiny side up and Merry Christmas.
