Not ever a problem to find posts about trouble with the newer Cat engines. I was wondering if anyone on hear has a newer Cat engine and actually has anything good to say about it.

    How new?
I have an 05 550 acert that has 920k on it. I like it enough that I just had it inframed by Cat, $$$$$, that's a lot of affection.

You won't hear (or read) anything good about a ACERT Cat from me ever..

They have cost me a good deal of down time..

    Now a 6NZ, 3406E (475 and up), an old B Model, or 3408.......yeah now we're talk'in

I'm curious what was the prefix on your serial #, mine is an MXS. I've always heard the MXS is the better acert motor.
Mine is definitely running nice, lots of power, very few break downs. I've had some repairs but they weren't ever catastrophic.

I think the newest KW we have is a 2009. I don't drive it so I am probably wrong. Anyhoo All of our trucks are KW w900 and one t800 with CATS in them and 18 speeds. Oh with the exception of the Autocar that now has a KW cab and hood. Heck we even have an old Autocar wrecker.

Back on point, the oldest one we have is a '97 that I drive. All in all, the motors have been very good to us. Just the last 6 months we have replaced a water pump and ..... nothing else until my air regulator quit working in December. Other than that just the normal brakes, bearings, airlines, wheel seals and tires the trucks just run. We service them every 12k miles. And this is for a total of 9 trucks. We are a heavy haul company so these are mostly grossing over 100k. Not all the time but quite a bit. We are in Montana so we have a couple of hills to deal with.
