If you have a lifter clip break, you should have the lifter bore sleeved. The reason that the lifter clip breaks, is because the lifter and the lifter bore is worn, which angles the clip groove in the lifter. Then it starts to drag the clip up and down until it breaks. Then the lifter rotates, and wipes itself out, along with the camshaft. Just replacing the lifter does not correct the wear in the lifter bore, and it will happen again, eventually. It can be sleeved with the engine in the truck, or boat or wherever.
