hey guys, I got a 05 classic c 15 acert. tonight found my coolant surge tank rusted out on bottom, called freightliner,,700.00 for replacement one,. ouch!!
anyway I took it off taking it to radiator shop in morning. guy said he may be able to cut out bad and patch it. anyone know any other places I may be able to find one?? seems the ones for classic's are hard to find,.

it mounts on top of radiator and is made of metal

I would say cut and weld, doubt it would be more than 200$ for a really good job. You could always try some JB Weld :p

Make sure when you put it back on to shim it up a little bit so you can see some daylight between coolant tank and rad. Keeps bugs and dirt from packing in there and doing same thing all over again. Classic are bad for that everyone that i know who have one have replaced or repaired tank. Did my on 05 classic with detroit 2 years ago dont remeber it costing $700 tho more in the $250 range because i would have welded it then and yes i have paslma cutter, mig welder and actylene torch to even braze it. Which i think the brazing would do better job of holding and not leaking.

I got it fixed at a radiator shop, he cut out a 5 by 7 piece and patched it/brazed it. 85.00. and yes I did shim it up.thanks for all the replies. i did find one on amazon under 200.00 but it was for a 93 thru 99, although it does look pretty much the same.a lot better than 700.00 from freightliner.
