A few months ago I picked up a FL Classic 2007. The seat is terrible and is killing my back.

I'm looking to replace it. Are truck seats pretty interchangeable between manufacturers? Is it fairly straightforward to install?

I've seen some National and Bostrom seats on eBay in the 500 range. Has anyone used and add-on type covers that provide cushioning and support?

Any thoughts on seats would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Double check bolt hole spacing but you should be able to use any of them. Usually 4 bolts and an airline.

Most truck dealers carry seats of various brands that reasonably priced and sometimes on sale. They usually bolt right in.

I bought a basic SEATS brand seat this past week from Peterbilt dealer for 395.00 after coupon. Had dual armrests. Better than what the guy had. If I was a driver I would have to have a good seat. Some guys come into our shop with hard seats (back and bottom). I warn them that sitting on those could cause blood clots.

1 - Have you considered getting the seat recovered at an upholstery shop? I've heard it costs ~$200.

    2 - Try salvage yards.

i say if its your ### in the seat don't skimp on your seat. i drove on a ####ty seat for a long time. then one day i just got to the point it didn't matter what a new seat cost i just needed my back to stop hurting all the time ect. i went in a truck dealer that had a lot of seats on display i sat in every single seat and picked the one that i thought felt the best and bought it didn't care what it cost.

the seat i picked was not the most expensive seat they had. it was a legacy silver seat in leather. i forget the exact price now i think it was in th 7-800 range.

    icsheeple Thanks this.

I'm almost at that point. I'll just have to check around KC and see who has the biggest display. No way I could just order a $700 seat online without sitting in it first.

I tried the fix it route but most upholstery shops were close to $500. I'd rather buy new at that point.

2- I think my seat was from a salvage yard twice removed.....
