Ok here is my concern. I would love to buy a truck this week but my intrigue is if I should buy an 05,06 or 07 Freightliner or to buy a 2000 Peterbilt or older? I know many owner operators love Peterbilt. But in my case I just want a Truck to start my independent business that keep me out of the shop for a while.. My point is both have Detroit Diesel 12.7L but the Freightliner engine is younger around 5 years. But I know the peterbilt keep their price in the used market. What could be good reasons to choose one or the other?
Truck decision

Here is what I do.....
I go to searchtempest.com and do a search within 1000 miles from my zip code. In your case I would use the word inframe. Now I just did that for me and here is what I found....
94 KW 126k on inframe, new trans, clutch and rear. Fuel pump rebuilt 1/14.... All for $25k
2006KW,12,000 miles on inframe by 3 D's ,18spd,285WB,enclosed headache rack,20 ratchets ,lots of chains ,beacons, strobes, all oversize equipment,4 tarps, its all there !going to retire ,had my fill !good paint ,looks sharp,red/orange,full rear fenders.it all goes but my clothes and radios.45K firm ! no tire kickers ,######## and no I won't hold the paper !
2001, 379 EHD , Cat c-15, 6 NZ, with 88000 miles on inframe, with paper work.
18 speed, with recent work, Front rearend replaced 130000 ago, with paper work. American class interior. $25k
[h=2]98 Pete 379 very nice completely gone thru truck. very sharp to the eye. engine has had in frame rebuild. transmission has est. 100,000 miles since new 15spd. both rear ends have been replaced in the last 150,000 miles lots of interior crome. Asking $39,900[/h]
And those are just off the first page within my state. It does not matter how old something is just how it was maintained. I currently drive a '97 KW and that thing flies even loaded. -
