Its way over due, but its time for a tuneup. 2004 freightliner century, detroit series 60 12.7. Ddec 5.
Its really running like #####! It misfires as its rolling, and it seems te best I can do for fuel mileage is 4.0mpg.
No smoke or Anything like that.
any thing you can think of why im getting such ###### gas mileage.
I will replace my fuel pump and all my injectors too when they do the tuneup.
What kind of improvement should i expect from a tune up? What are some of your improvements that you saw in yours?
Time for a tuneup??

prolly the egr acting up but should do a tune up around 100000 miles
The blue guy Thanks this. -
How many miles since you ajusted the overhead? The intakes tighten up on those and if it's way overdue, they may be way too tight. I'd check the EGR for issues and run the overhead 1st. Injectors may be a waste of money right now, find the problem first.

The truck has 840k. I just replaced the egr valve 5k miles ago

egr's on these motors don't last prolly the valve adjustments tight has it ever been set

To be nit picky, it's the bridges you adjust, not the valves themselves.
The blue guy Thanks this. -

Grape you took the words out of my mouth!

The over head on a detroit is the most difficult thing to do on one. In comparison with cat & Cummins. No experience on the Mercedes or vulvas I got lucky and didn't have the shims to set up the compression brake. It went to the dealer.
