I have a Century and I have the exact same issue, but it's not all the way in the bottom of the shaft but in the middle of the shaft. There's some loose movement but I have driven it like that for two years now. What I did was that I cut the tip of plastic zip ties like an inch long and push it around it. I put four and covered it with black duck tape. It wasn't as loose and don't have any issues but yes, you can fail inspection it has a lot of play. I just changed my Steering gear box last week but the mechanic dint see any issues on my fix. If you think it's not safe, change it.

cant see the pics, but any steering issues should be fixed asap. I don't think you can appreciate the safety factor if that breaks loose and causes you to crash.
we replace draglinks as part of regular maintenance and check for play on the pitman arm. any rust on the splines and it is OOS condition. -
Get it changed. That seal is just a dust shield but the play can become excessive and steering could be affected. Labor is straight forward if you're mechanically inclined or about 1 hour labor at the dealer. Don't let those TA/Petro flunkies touch it.

$695 will pay for a re-man steering box.
