C13 iva question

    Have low IVA oil pressure under a engine load.Have narrowed it down to not being pressure sensor,control valve or check valve.What is the best way to test for oil leaks on all 3 actuator housings?Have already tried cranking engine with ECM fuse pulled and control valve unplugged while looking for leaks,but it only happens while engine rpm is above 1500 and warm.Thanks in advance.

    I had same problem with a C 15. turned out that one solenoid was a little loose. it 'rocked' slightly when grabbed with thumb and fore finger. tightened studs...end of problem. hope this helps

    I've seen some cracked housings. Many times when the housing cracks, the solenoid screws come loose and I've seen some broken. When they crack, it's typically right by the solenoids. If the housing is cracked, make sure the rocker studs are torqued to spec before you put the new housing on. Loose rocker studs can also allow oil to leak by the rocker studs and reduce oil pressure up there. Cracking is more of an issue on C15's, but I'd sill check them really close.

    Does engine oil pressure drop when the light comes on? Low oil pressure could kick that code as well.

    You can run it with the valve covers off and look for oil squirting out where it's not supposed to. Check really close at the oil bridges that go from the head to the IVA housings. Nothing but a few O-rings in there to change if they're leaking. I've seen them cracked as well, usually from improper installation.

    You hit it GrapeApe! Oil bridge to head O-rings were flat. Was not able to see them leaking, but changed them as precaution since I had actuators off anyway. Thanks to all that helped.
