I have 1.2mil on mine and its all original, but I kind of expect it could go any time. lots of cats out there that see mid million mile mark without much problem.

I thought they had that all sorted out by 2007?

We have a 2005 Acert and I can tell you that you do NOT want to wait if you have an '05. That was a $13,000 touch up.

Maybe take it to a Cat house next time you get the valve lash set and ask them of your engine has had the upgrade.

The VVA / rocker arm studs are what you're referring to I believe. The early ACERT's had studs that would break and crash the overhead. Your '07 should have the newer style studs that proved to be durable. If you got 800k+ on it I wouldn't change them on a whim, but be VERY mindful of a sudden miss while running along with CEL. If it were me I would wait until you overhaul it and if you use a Platinum Kit they are included.

I think the update on the vva studs went into effect with the nxs32162 and up. If yours is a nxs with a lower # than that I believe you don't have the new studs......

pull one out when you do an overhead to see if you have the up dated ones. it will have a small shaft just below the head hex. looks like it was ground down.

you will have to pull one of the vva/jake housings to see. if you go that far may as well do an overhead while your at it. I would say $300 to $500 to run overhead and replace bolts if needed. just a guess.

A little more than that if it needs the upgraded studs. They say Cat on them, so you're looking at around $350-400 just for the studs. Still cheaper than waiting for 1 to break. Maybe the price came down some, it's been a year or so since we did all of ours.
