I own a 1991 western star conventional that has a cat 3406m in it. I recently bought the truck from an acquaintance. The in frame has about 55k on it. The guy I bought the truck from told me that he replaced the engine fan and fan hub and it was almost new when I bought the truck. My question is how can I convert the automatic fan hub/switch to manual? There's no switch at all. Its fully automatic. He told me that the hub that had manual switch option was an extra 800 bones so he decided to go without it. I really want to add a switch. So far so good I mean it works properly and as soon as the motor reaches about 202 or 203 dagrees it comes on but Ot scares me not to have a switch. What will adding a switch entail? Just a new more expensive hub? Or are there more steps to doing this?

My 84-3406b has an air operated hub. Its activated by an air solenoid which gets power from manual switch and temp sensor.

I need to research the workings of the system more.
