2002 Volvo 770
ISX 450
1350000 miles
Took a oil sample from transmission, came back as "Severe".
The only problem with it is that it kinda jerks when you in gauge no problem 1,2,3,4,5 even 6,7,8 aren't that bad,but 11,12 and 13 you need to step gently on the
accelerator after you shift, otherwise it jerks/kicks driveshaft was checked, yoke nuts tightened-no change.
So I think the transitions needs to be looked at
ANY IDEA HOW MUCH IT MIGHT COST ME? AND HOW LONG ?
How much will it cost me to rebuild a 13 sp fuller transmission?

That is the question to ask after the mechanic it is out and torn down, anything else is purely speculation. If you want to plan, plan on the cost of a replacement, anything less is only good news.
blade Thanks this. -
depends on what parts might be broken,,a great trans shop in the west is called Mason Diesel Service in Aurora, Ut next to Salina Ut off I-70,,they do great work and have parts in stock,,they have a very reasonable labor rate too. Can't beat their prices or the quality of there work.

If an oil sample comes back severe just change the oil. If your splits on the high gears aren't working well, quit using them, and just drive it like a nine speed.

Yep, just change the oil. Transmission oil is changed at about 500K miles, so any analysis results will show "severe". The rest is just shifting technique. I think rebuilding or replacing your transmission is just money wasted at this point.
wore out Thanks this. -
.
on 13 speeds usually just the back half needs to be rebuilt but with those miles .........
if the whole tranny needs rebuilding just get a factory reman which are about $3800 with a 2 year warranty + install +clutch -

Passed over the advise of one of the better technicians on the forum to jump at the expensive option. Whatever you do doesn't matter to me but I would ease up a little and take a breath. That tranny may have not a thing really wrong with it. Even if it's getting some wear it may last as long as the rest of the truck. Dropping 5 to 6k minimum to go reman isn't going to make it worth any more or less.
