Looks like a Century with more plastic crap. Snap together trucks is all they make anymore. drats... I don't see a lot of "inspiration" there.

Yup. I think this is the beginning of the end. They'll build on this technology and in a short period of time, we'll all be out of jobs. Good thing I can still build, twist wrenches or if all else fails go back to police work.

I'll take the Pete that is the futuristic Walmart truck out last year. Just as impractical but sexy...

I just left a Freightliner dealer and our trainer said the next step would be electronic differentials, suspension and moving the cab 6" lower and 4" forward. They have gotten about all they can out of the engine platform amd in order to meet MPG requirements in 2018 most will have to come from the chassis at this point. Scary for sure....one reason I stepped away after 20+ years.

just got my copy of H.D. truck magazine. testing out 2016 freightliner flat land gross 65,000 cruise at 65 m.p.h. getting just over 12 m.p.g. still in the testing phase, I am sure there are many more variables, that would change that m.p.g.

Looks like the whole automated system keeps the truck within the lane with the sensors honing in on the white lines painted on the roads. I guess if they decide to make this fully automated, we will all have to get together and paint all the lines on the highways black. Simple solution! Realistically though, we'll all be long retired (even the young guys) before this goes fully automated. It's like an airplane. Theyll never pull the pilot out. You have to have a human there in case the system fails or malfunctions.

americas roads are ruined how would this truck's sensors hold up bumping up and down I-10 hours on end?

yea i would not want to be dozing off in the back when this truck goes haywire and jumps down a bridge.

auto tranny is okay but this is just way to much, and who even cares about california and its stupid laws, many states have already said their aint going for the EPA BS!

your going to pay 200k for a "self driving truck" that will at best get 10mpg due to all the emissions? lol, good luck with that, a clean running pre-emmision truck can easily get 7mpg, not to mention the first 5-10 years these trucks will be in the shops like crazy due to all these ###### sensors going haywire.

In 80s fly-by-wire passanger planes looked fantastic (but Su-27, F/A-18 were made).

A bit later A320 was introduced, so lets wait
