    47" is very common
5th wheel height is made up from tire diameter, suspension height, frame measurement and 5th wheel stand measurement

47-48 is about average. Most places where, say, an O/O would lease on to where they pull boxes require 5th wheels no higher than 48, otherwise you get that Uphill Box Syndrome going down the road.

Some trucks now have adjustable 5th wheels, where one can adjust to be Higher for certain loads (i believe Tankers, Flatbeds, and LowBoys are higher) and then lower for others (Low Clearance Specialty Boxes such as NA Van Lines Boxes, Automotive Racks, etc.)

Well, Landstar needed the height on my Lease paperwork. I leveled it, put a flat stick on top and measured it to 47".

    Thanks for the input guys.

47" is the standard height that the majority of trailers use. There are some oddball ones out there, and your choice of tires can affect it, but that is the common number. they are mainly concerned becaue of locations like the two bridge tunnels in Chesapeake Va and othe rplaces where there is not much room to spares. A friend of mine used to pick up extra money pulling through trailers that would not meet the bridge height through there.
