    Interesting...

Made me think about an issue that you amy be able to clarify for me.

I had my ohd done oct 7, on a Volvo d12.

The ECM , just a day later on a deadhead run started indicated the 146 13 codes for egr -out of calibration

Is there any correlation between the two. ie.cause and effect?

Actually, I like it that way. You know why? Because, if it's the shady shop, then, they will kick me out. If it's a good shop, they will not have a problem. Ex: some moron backed into my truck, bank truck until paid off, and left. I have found a shop, locally, that does good, I mean good, body work. When I was picking up my truck, I've noticed couple ,
"paint holes", imperfections. I've brought it up with the shop owner, to which he responded :"no problem, I'll have them redo the whole area for the paint to match". - now that's a shop that stands behind it's work.

I ,also, had my local Volvo/cummins shop do the work on my ECM and screwed up, even after I've called cummins them selves and they have confirmed my theory, this dealer did not budge. I've taken the truck out and drove 400+mi to my load, paid really good, and had the cummins shop fix it within about 2-3 hr window, while my local shop charged me for about 10-12 hr. I've fought with the local dealer for the refund, they were pissed. I don't care, do good work and back it up or, you'll be sorry that my truck got screwed up in your shop. Also, if the shop is afraid to touch my truck because I'll sue them, if they screw up, I don't want that shop even looking at it, not even talking about fixing it.
Shady idiots will stay away. Quality guys will not be afraid. I know that mistakes happen. But, be man enough to admit it and fix it. Otherwise, I fight blazing fire with "sand" or water. Doesn't take me long and I keep my money, not the idiotic shop.

For the money that these shops charge, they better stand behind their work. Otherwise, lawsuit and punitive damages await them. Along with the charges of the down time. Plus, money spend if I had to take the truck to the different shop, $/mi. This is business. I run my business. If a moron causes me to lose my income, I return the favor with %.

I'm an auto mechanic by, one of my , trade. So, I know the difference between quality and knock off. Sorry if this is harsh. But, it's business. I can't afford to be down, actually I don't want to. So, I tell the shop ahead of time.

You need to understand that if you're and o/o, then, it's your business. You have rights just like any other business. If you treat your business with high standard, idiots will leave, eventually. You can't let small things get away. Enough of small things will make a big problem. If you haul a reefer and the company cheats you, turn the reefer off and drive the opposite direction then your load is going and call them. You'll be surprised how fast you'll get paid. Look for another company afterwards.
I'm getting off my soap opera.

Doing a valve set is a lot more than just getting the valves set to the proper adjustment and the injectors set properly it is a lot more you want to inspect the cam, the rocker arms, the push tubes the cam followers the bridges and setting them if needed, check every valve and injector spring the be sure it is not broken, The Jake's are all the return springs good are the slack eliminators, good many will crack the inner Jake springs on the control valves they get week and it improves performance to change those. The wiring are all connectors tight and the locks tight.
Being able to do these things in the time allotted takes experience. I use to check the turbo Turbine to see if stuff had gone threw it not much use doing a valve set if the pistons are coming apart.
    Just a thought!
