I turned down the opportunity to be assigned a Freightliner Columbia, preferring to stay with the older FLD120. Eventually, the older tractor was returned to Ryder, and I had to take a newer model from Penske against my better judgement. Sure enough, the mirrors were shakey, etc. I cut sections of tarp strap and squeezed them between the mirror glass and the outer aerodynamic mirror body.

It seems that ordinary mirrors get the shakes no matter what. I dunno about anyone else, but the trucks I've driven with Moto mirrors didn't seem to shake nearly as much.

i was just going to suggest that----the harmonic balancer; Pittsburg power has some. You may want to check into that.

    Also ribbed vs. lugged tires...........

If your motor runs slightly rough it will vibrate the mirrors,to check this when you idling give enough fuel untill the vibration stops .If that happens than you know you need the tune the engine some how.Mine pete too had the same problem and find out that one of the injector spring was brocken, after replacement no more shakey mirros. My 2 cents

You didn't say if you're mirrors were shaking going down the road and that is what you are trying to control, or at idle. I would take the truck to a shop and have the idle on the engine adjusted until the mirrors quit moving. I've had to adjust the idle sometimes as far as 25 rpms. Every truck is different, different truck makes, poly motor mount, rubber motor mounts, and mileage makes a huge difference.

You are right.I had my acert set at 650rpm idle and put a crank balancer on and my mirrors dont vibrate now when sitting still or trying to back in a dock. But checking all the mounts is a good idea. But my mounts were good.

Here's what I found on my 2015 389 pete. The stud coming out of the top of the mirror has 3 nuts. The first nut should be tightened against the mirror, then the other 2 nuts with washers. Ive had 2 of these trucks and i just figured this out. No more shaky mirrors going down the road. 15278244305082010484630.jpg tighten against the bracket.
