My company is looking at leasing a 53' tractor trailer. One truck that we are looking at is a 2009 International Prostar with a Cummins engine. I wasn't able to find any info on this truck in the forum. I'd love to get some good advice. Thanks!

i know they have less space in them than the 9400's. a lot less under the bunk because the sleeper A/C is under there instead of under the pasenger seat.

They are a nice riding and driving truck. I don't really like the layout of the dash. I could tell you more, but the issues that I had were with a preproduction truck so the problems I had have been resolved for production trucks.

I have about 9k miles on my 09 Prostar and its the nicest tractor I have been in. I came out of a 07 Volvo to get into this Cornrow Corvette and I am more than pleased. Roomy sleeper and very comfy ride. I like the exterior styling as well. Nice tractors all the way around IMO.

The company I am with bought about 30 of them, but recently cancelled their order for another 50 because of warranty issues with the accessory drive on the ones we have.

The company I drive for has Freightliner's and International's. I've asked a couple driver's about the ProStar, not that I will be driving one, and some like them and most hate them. The one's that hate them say there isn't enough room, being a mid roof sleeper over the Freightliner Condo's.

All the new trucks, 07 and newer, are Automatics with Super Singles

i love it from the back of the drivers seat forward!!! sleeper storage sucks (especially to have to share with students) under bunk storage...sucks.
i love the layout of rear a/c vents. i can blow that baby right in my face!!!

I got mine in October and like it except for the storage issues. It would be a good starter truck for a student who doesn't have anything, but I came from a Freightliner Columbia and before that a Volvo. It was like trying to cram 10# of crap in a 5# sack. And my engine is the smallest Cummins (nomenclature escapes me). No power on the mountain inclines. Otherwise a great truck imo.

I hate the ProStar and cuss it out every day. My company has it set to shut down after five minutes of idling, unless it's 10 degrees or less out. Try to get dressed and ready for the day in the dark, and jumping up into the front seat every five minutes to keep the truck running. I've destroyed two cel phones, over $1,000 worth of electronics cuz you can't move in here without knocking something over. Storage sux. The dashboard is a royal pain in the butt, it slopes down away from you, so forget about trying to keep a few things handy and within reach. Anything you put on the passenger seat will soon be on the floor. It rides pretty nice for a truck, and it's pretty on the outside, and that's the only good thing that I can say about it. I'd rather have a Columbia, or a Volvo, and I hear that the Cascadia's are nice. My company is getting rid of everything BUT the dratted ProStars. Many drivers will base their potential employment choice on what type of equipment that a company is running...and most drivers like to have a choice. I think that the knuckleheads who designed this truck should be forced to live in one for a month or two...then maybe then, they will take it back to the drawing board and redesign the inside of it. They can start with making a NORMAL dashboard.
