I told you my thoughts if it was pushing the limits with at 600hp then it would blow up everytime you got on it! The blocks are the same C15 or C16, the difference is in the crank and liners having a wider bore, thats it. Im not sure on the rods. The engine withstands 1200hp on marine applications with the very same bottom end, the engine IS NOT at its limits. Kurt's C16 has been running at over 1200hp at the crank for over 300k miles now without problems, i have 70k on my KW with the big injectors and 100k total since i bought it, no problems either. CAT is full of shat, reason why he is telling you this is so you dont mess with THEIR engine. They act like its still theirs but you are renting it from them :biggrin_25517:

Its true thats how they make me feel LMFAO.Well said!!
Just got the account back for the last rebuild looks like the liner protrusion was boarder line on the first rebuild.
the protrusion when they pulled it to bits was .002 with the new .003 spacer plate its now up to .005 so like you said that would have been the cause of the head gasket failure.

Exactly, its their fault not the injectors man. The engine can build serious power reliably, dont worry what CAT says, i never listen to these wannabe diesel mechanics.

Back to the topic,Its all about what you like I can remember back to the late 70s going to work with the old man sitting on D8 all day and I have been dealing with CAT for over 20 years myself.
One dud engine not going to turn me off CAT and the same could be said about Cummins its all about history.

1st Cat, 2nd detriot, 3rd cummins. Our local bobtail Internationals with the International engines are junk.

Not much said about the mercedes engines. I don't know anything about them other than they sound weird.
