I don't know about now but Cummins used to make a really good motor like the N-14. But Cat has stood their ground as well. Hard choice to make here but I will have to say that old mechanical style kitty take's the cake! CAT for my vote. -
GREEN WEENIES for those into making a P R O F I T!
There is a reason Cat is getting out of the business
Come-A-part hasnt had a motor since the BigCam days,everybody knows a red head is trouble . . . . . -
Another vote for the yellow motor here....I've owned Cats and a Detroit, the Detroit was a oil leaking, no pulling money pit, and the mileage everybody raves about never much impressed me either..

Had a Century with a Det. 60 only 10k miles on it when my trainer got it. Pulled like ####. I have yet driven a truck with a Det. that pulled half ### worth a #### and/or had some kind of mechanical problem.

Yep, that's me right there -
yellow motors are overrated and over priced as if you take care of any of them the will serve fine no matter what color just the same as you can end up with a pos of any color

Anyone with a mind an concern for their pocket book knows that while a cat will go a little longer between inframes however only about 200,000 miles. While an N-14 will pull rite with a cat, they cost less to repair, maintain, an operate. -
I agree 100%. My detroit was VERY weight sensitive. Now I have an MXS cat and it could care less how much weight I pull.
