anyone have a problem w/ mbn turbo housings and manifolds burning center dividers? Just put my trucks 3rd turbo on including the original one in 490,000km. not acceptable. lol. It is in a winch truck in the alberta oilpatch so it does see some heavy pulling. finnning tells me common prob. Considering ecm swap. Is this worth it? thks

Its a normal problem it cracks do to high exhaust temps, the housings were known to crack on a 6NZ as well. To stop this you need a older ecm and a different turbo, non wastegated perhaps.

I have been researching the ecm swap and have found myself a b-model exh manifold which i think may help as well.which man sleeves do i need to make the B manifold work on my mbn? When you did your ecm swap did it totally eliminate the 30lb de-rate? And did you continue to run your mbn turbo as mine is new now....

Nah once i started to play with mine the stock parts started flying off the motor, when i got the truck it had 80k on the turbo and the exhaust housing was cracked already. Yes if you get a older 6NZ ecm it wont have a 30lb de-rate, the older ecms had a 50lb fuel cut. Also look under your sleeper, i assume this is on a KW you will have dual mufflers, those have catalytic comverters in them, get rid of them.

These are the exhaust sleeves to use....194-8124, also you will have to do some grinding one the manifold to make it fit by the thermostat housing.

my mufflers have been cut in half already to clear extra air tanks etc and gutted at same time... will the 2 harnesses work well w/ ecm swap? I mean the boost/ fuel temp harnesses? What diff did u notice w/ the manifold change??

Well i put a different turbo on at the same time after i already had the big injectors in, my pyro temps dropped about 200-250*F, engine will change tone completley, and definetley feel more top end power. The only draw back is since you are relieving back pressure your jakes will get a bit weaker, i really didnt notice much of a difference though.

The wires will work well, the fuel temp wire will work on the MBN ecm just not the boost wrie, i would only get the fuel temp wire as its the only one worth the power unless you want response and a bunch of smoke, then get the boost wire. I use to run the boost wire with the injectors but took it off as i was already blowing lots of soot and the wire only made it worse, had elevated soot levels in my oil. Once i took the boost wire off its back to normal..... Now i dont think you will have that problem with stock injectors.

We have a pile of those housings in the scrap pile in the back shop. Changing the turbo to something other then a cat turbo is our solution

Only thing that you can probably get away with is injector trim codes, i suggest having them set to 6999. As far as FTS or FLS settings i would cintact DDS on this board he will set you up.... I could give you some settings but you wont be able to set em without a password.

If you can find it get a C-16 7CZ ecm, this will give you ultimate power, if not have yours flashed to this program. If not get your hands on a 550hp 6NZ C-15 or 3406E 2WS ecm.
