hello, i have a question... first i shall explain the scenerio... i have a 2000 western star and a 2012 Utility trailer. The ABS system is brake actuated and with this combination, the ABS is working as it should, which means when I turn the key to run position i do not have the idiot light to show that the system is working ok. I press the brake and i see the ABS light turning on for 1-2 seconds and turning off as it should. we are told we need to have a key on system of continual power, we are also told it is as easy as splicing a power wire to the system, we do not have constant power. My questions are: 1. Does anyone know if this is a DOT rule? (i checked and key-on for this combination isn't in the rule.) 2. Does anyone have that easy fix or the instructions or know of a mechanic or company that has installed or wired a key-on constant power.

Do you have a aux switch on the dash or do you use that wire for something else? It is the center pin, blue wire. Unless it was rewired, it should have keyswitch power to the center. Check all the fuses, usually labed trailer aux, or trailer ABS. If not, trace the wire. Find where the 7 way goes when it gets to/near the fuse panel and see if that end has power with the key, start isolating the problem. If it's simply not wired, get a scematic of the truck and wire it like it should be. You want a fused connection there, don't just jump a hot to it.
I'm not sure of the exact rule, they usually just have you turn the key on and make sure the light works correctly. I've known a few drivers that got a violation for "inoperable trailer ABS lamp". -
If u have Haldex ABS there is LED fault code indicator on unit, but really this is 2s/2m system, so chekc voltage supply and both ABS sensors and pole rings.
Ok, how does ABS system is wired? it is wired with constant/ignition power from trucktor, but if no power ABS uses brake light power as spare power supply -
BTW, to access to indicator u need to remove cover

I have a 2010 cascadia pulling a 2014 utility flatbed with abs. My trailer abs light comes on on my dash for a few secs when I brake and/or going up or down an incline. I was under the impression that was the abs keepING my trailer the same speed as my tractor. Is this so??

ABS light on/off when u hit brake pedal - constant power is broken and ABS/EBS uses spare power supply from brake light circuit (24N power supply) -
Anyone got an ABS wiring diagram for the 3000R, mine is spliced beyond recognition an in need to fix pronto!

Just unplug the bulb and roll.

first of all identify ABS brand and model. To find wiring diagram is easy
