I'm nearly complete with two of my 4 wheeler projects which leaves me with one major project in progress. My routine is to start collecting ideas and then parts for the next and I think I want to do a Big truck this time.

I want a somewhat vintage conventional that you don't see all the time. That leaves out Pete's, KW's, and Shakers for sure. I'm leaning toward a Binder, Mack, or Jimmy.

Tranny is 13 or 18 for sure, powerplant I haven't decided but its gotta be something big.

    Any input welcome.

I know I'll get flamed for this but..... never really been a fan of the Diamond Reo trucks. A few of the Diamond T's are to my taste...but prefer something a bit more aquirable in somewhat intact condition.

Brockway from the early 70's. Especially the ones with the set back axle and the fenders that swing out to make work on the engine easier.

I used to drive a '72 model with a 350 Cummins and 13 spd. That hood looked good from the front seat.

The one I drove was exactly like this with the short stack, budd wheels, and everything, except it was dark green with white weels. It did have aluminum bumper, stainless mirrors, and chrome grill. I pulled a tanker with it.

You guys are stealing my thunder! Was going to say Diamond Reo Raider, or an old "A car".
Two fellows in near-by town I hauled grain with; one had an old A car, integral sleeper, (I think it was a 1952). The other had a 1955 "bubble nosed KW", sort of a cross between a cabover, and a conventional. His brother had a White Freightliner cabover, which had a 2 stroke 12-71 Detroit. That would be like owning a Pete today with a rocket booster for a motor. lol

There was a guy in this state who had a two owner very low mileage Brockway for $15k. I saw it in an ad last week, if I can remember where. He said they had owned it since the early 80's, and it wasn't rusted or beat up.

If I find the ad I will PM you.

There are some Marmon tractors around, I kind of like those, all had Cummins power that I have looked at. I've recently driven a Volvo, from when they acquired GMC this 1 has B Cat and 13 speed.

I've seen a few early FLD Freightliners with the detachable sleeper, those look different as well, pretty rare compared the ones with the Pete sleeper, have seen lots of those. Those would be around 87 models and could either look like the newer FLD or the older 1.
