I, too, drive an '07 Volkswagen, and have the same issue. It's not too bad, at this point, but it could be better.
I'm most definitely going to take advantage of this information & when the shop's not looking the headlights are getting adjusted
If enough shops contacted Volvo, maybe a recall could be issued. I know the same's been done in the four-wheeler industry.

This week I'll try to find wreked Version-II headlamp on my work. For conventional trucks and COE they are different but inside they use the same components. I wil show you the weak point of '06-07 headlamps. No similar problem laeter and before. The only way to fix is projector is to resilver projector eleptical reflector and clean condencer lens. That is all! will be brigter you can imagine!

I can see, again, I can see. I did as the directions I quoted above say & I'm happy

I seriously thought that I was the only one that thought that the lights on Volvo's seem too low. How did I miss this thread? Good info though.

It is one of the things that has kept me from looking at them when I think about buying a truck.
I drove them for over a year, and hated being blind all the time.
My prostar lights up the world. I cannot use my high beams or I will blind myself and anyone else within 2 miles of me. -
Agree on poor stock lights, didn't get brighted back when using brights myself to see what would happen - hate to do it all the time, but it seems like that's just enough to get equal with the AVERAGE brightness of a NORMAL vehicle!

well, some resuearch results. Early LCM units were not designed for HID and the only way is to disable low beam monitoring function. Anyway bullasts must not be directly powered via LCM (there are BTS MOSFET Switches inside), I added relays, like Volvo recomend.
Well! First of all - I did low beam low currend detection disabling.

FoolsErrand Thanks this. -
Stock headlamp wiring diagram. May differ depending on year of make. You see highliten LOW beam wires. I cut them to add relays. Ballasts are locatead inside headlamp units. fortunatly there is a lot of room inside))))
This is Volvo with HID diagram. You mau add relays a bit different way, but LCM must controll relays! HID ballasts are powered by relays. I sugest there is hig current puls on HID ignigting and to save BTS MOSFETS they use relays.Last edited: Dec 28, 2010

BTW! Check parameter LOW BEAM ON WHEN HIGH BEAM ON! must be set. HID lamps require 30-60 sec. delay to get full brightness and that's why LCM keeps low beam on when you use high beam (not flash to pass).
