I have heard of several truckers using Tungsten Disulfide in powder form added to lubricants. Some have used it for years and I know it comes in different powder sizes from nano to fine to course.

I have never used it as a powder additive.

That site has a quite a few tribologists at it that are not shills for any oil company. Go ahead, try to spar with some of them, like DNewton there. You had better wear your cup, because they will put you to shame about what you think you know about oils, lubes, and additives.

Just let me know if you do it. I will enjoy reading those threads!

you know its funny. the military use to sample all fluids. than they relied that the sampling did no good and truely did not show what a motor was going through so they quit and went back to the old school sure way. drop the pan and mic everything for wear.

I do run lucas and can say that on a motor with 3 million mile and only one inframe verus same motor with 1 million miles and 1 inframe the 3 million motor still shows less wear than the million mile truck. both trucks 12.7 dd both rotella 15w40 3 million runs 2 gallon lucas at every oil change. 1 gal is oil ad other is fuel add. the piston tops look lile new and the date stamp on the tops is clear and easy to see. with no signs of short burn or side burn. verus the million did show signs of side burn and the crank was worn down more. now i must note the 3 million has 400k more on it since its inframe. now running lucas in both motors. tore the head off of the million motor and is burning alot better and the mpg went from 5 to 7 and has alot more pull p0ower and quicker response.....thats just these last 2 trucks i have been running lucas for years at the recommendation of detroit....

Show less wear, eh. What are your used oil sample results showing in relation to when you weren't using Lucas? I have always wanted to see some tangible comparisons in used oil samples from before and after using something like Lucas or MotorKote. So far I have not found any. You would think that if folks would have no problem putting out money on a product, that they would have no problem shelling out a twenty to do a used oil sample and get real world testing results to see it they are getting their money's worth. I always do regular oil sampling. I did a comparison from conventional and synthetic engine oils, same brand name, and could not see any real difference between them in the used oil samples after using the synthetic for a few oil changes. That helped me decide to save the money and go back to the conventional version. Do you have pre and post oils samples you could share so we could see the comparison after using the Lucas OS?

I have been suspicious of Lucas being that good. A few folks I keep up with sent in samples of Lucas out of the jug to their normal oil testing labs. It came back showing that all it is, is a straight 50w base oil. No additives of any kind. That made me wonder, if folks want a thicker oil, they could get a 15w50 instead of a 15w40 and at least it would have the essential addiitves in it that help protect the engine. And it wouldn't cost them one dime more. Go figure.

Straight 50w oil? Could Forrest Lucas have built an empire selling straight 50w motor oil as an oil additive/enhancer??? This should rank up there with Bernie Madoff's accomplishments!

I can only go by what those folks over at the BITOG site said the oil sample results from the labs were on Lucas. Just a 50w base oil. They posted the actual lab reports on there, so you can take a look yourself. I think, if memory serves, those reports were in the Virgin Oil Sample section of the forum. If I get time this weekend, I will try to track them down an post a link here.

I use fully synthethic oil and motorkote on my 2001 Volvo with N14 engine I even have it on my trans, differential, bearing and power steering.and I never have problem and I never go back to lucas oil again.it keeps my engine clean everytime I send oil sample because I have gulfcoast filter on it.i start using motorkote on my engine with .6 million mile now I have it on 1.3 million miles and my truck still going strong.
