I am partial to just using Schaeffer 7000 15w40 synthetic blend in my engine. It has one of the strongest additive packages of any oil out there, specifically zinc and moly, which are well established friction reducers. Moly was first developed for the military for it's high performance aircraft engines. Even after 20,000 miles, my oil samples show zinc additive at higher level than Mobil, Delo, Rotella versions fresh out of the bottle. Have gotten extremely satisfying used oil sample results using this oil. It is a variation on the same Schaeffer oil that was being used by the very first documented semi engine to go 1 million miles without an overhaul many years ago. Nice thing, I can get a drum of it delivered free to the house for just over $18 a gallon, complete with free oil sample kits. I don't feel the need to add anything else to the crankcase. Schaeffer was just given an award for one of the top 500 technologically advanced corporations in America recently, and they have been around and doing lubes longer than any other corporation in America.... since 1839. They were behind the development of the lubes for the Apache Attack Helicopter, and a primary source supplier for the Abrams M1 Tank and other military needs. They even make some lubes for Shell and others that those folks can't seem to make well enough for some customer special application demands. All documented and easily verified if anyone wants to search it out.

Motorkote and Lucas have no business in my engine or components. Nothing about them will do anything more than my oils and lubes don't already do. Sorry, Forrest, but the oil I use doesn't need to be "stabilized". And sorry, Motorkote, my oil does not need chlorinated paraffins to enhance its performance. Can't speak to the other brands of oils.

    Grey Dodge Thanks this.

Finally got around to digging up a past thread at the BITOG site that discusses Lucas Oil Stabilizer...

    http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/890132/8

You can go over the entire thread, but I posted the link to one of the pertinent pages. You will see a oil analysis report midway down the page on LOS straight out of the bottle. It is nothing but an oil thickener. No additives of any kind. The Viscosity of the the product, 124 CST is the equivalent of about 150 weight gear oil. In comparison, a 15w40 engine oil has a viscosity of 14.5 CST. The LOS is over 8 times thicker than a 40 weight engine oil! And since it has no additives of any kind, by putting this stuff in your engine, you are diluting the additive package of your oil. Now why would anyone want to throw in a 150w base oil in an engine and weaken their additive package? Go figure. But Lucas has done a great job in marketing and convinced a lot of folks that this stuff is the cat's meow for their engine.
