I've had one or 2 that absolutely required a puller. The hammer trick didn't work. The nut had been over-tightened by someone. Took an impact to remove it.

Thanks for all your replies, really appreciated all your help. I got the steering wheel off very easy, pushed up with my knees and kept pressure on as i loosened the nut, gave it a little tap and off she came, almost too easy. Nice to know there are so many helpful knowledgable people here willing to help, again thanks to you all.

Let's consider what he's hitting with that "well placed hammer blow"! With his T & T Wheel there is a sliding section & a "U" joint that you are beating on besides the collapsable, section in the columb. GET a puller!!!!!!!!!! If that is completely out of the question, &, I never said this, after establishing the "upward pressure"with your knees or what other means, place at least a 3 lb. sledge on the end of the columb & hit the sledge with another hammer. This will jar the columb & absorbe some of the blow to the end of the threads. Jus' Tryin'

Glad to see it came off easy. The wheels I've had to change came off with the same amount of ease. That was what i based my advice on.No beating just a good tap. After all it is a truck for goodness sake not a toy.lol
