I have been running the Toyo M147 LP24.5 for about the last 6 years with great results. They seem to wear even and have a softer ride (especially nice for states like Michigan). Before I put the Centrimatics on I would swap out a set of steers after a year (mostly cause I was heavy hauling and needed trailer tires), but now with the Centrimatics I'm looking at being able to run them out to about 150,000-170,000 miles. The other nice thing about the Toyo tires is that I don't get the hydroplane effect in rain anymore. I'm guessing its from the deeper tread depth, wider grooves and a bigger foot print. Also my tires guy got them for about $620 a pair (includes FET, valve stems, and mounting).
Best steer tire?

I had to put Toyos on my steer last go-round, because the B F Goodrich steers I normally run were on backorder. Down to about 70% now and no complaints.

I got michelins on the steers and goodyear bricks every where else. The mich are the most uneven wearing tires I have ever seen on my truck. 10k miles and theres already spots on the farthest outside rib thats worn almost a 1/4" deep. I put my truck in for an alignment this weekend, but I know they arent going to replace the shocks so its hard to say if its entirely michelin fault, however the goodyear bricks I had on before the michelins didnt have nearly the same wear issue.

dunlop 343's I think thats the number, 16 ply I run 110-115 psi, 110k miles and still has 15/32 of the original 19/32 per my last quarterly inspection. No more michelins for me either, like pullin trucker said replaced them every fall

So where are some good locations to shop and get an alignment ... price is important ?? Also how important is it to have the mileage/wear the same on both steers ?? I need to add 1 tire and get an alignment and I have 1 good Continental already on the front.

At the suggestion of some friends I've been running the Yokohama 617s on my 379. They are very round, run true and ride well, especially since putting on the Centramatics. Since they are a non directional tire I rotate them at the oil change every 20,000 miles to keep wear even. I like them so much I'm now ready to put on a set of 577 drive tires.

Bridgestone 287's are junk. Tried the Michelins, like the XZA-3 best and got the best life out of them. Going to try Continentals or Yokohamas next as Michelin has gotten rediculous with their pricing.

I hate to agree with another driver, (that is against the rules isn't it?) but I have had very good luck with the Yokohama 617's. I am always over 12K on my steers, and do a lot of curb hopping to make deliveries in tight places. They have held up better than anything else I have used.

I've had the best luck with Michelin XZA3's, I can get between 160-180,000 miles out of them. Anything else I'm lucky to get 100,000 miles out of. I pull a bullrack and get off the pavement quite a bit and the Michelins hold up really well on my 9400.
