Yes I'm a mechanic. If hes truck is a 2007 spec he would have a regen system with stainless exhaust and a funny big muffler that is a catilist. He proble doesn't have a 2007 and his serial # on the eng is nxs. I'm trying to get a picture to transfer over.

About the only place you can get a exploded veiw and part lists is a parts catalog from CAT. The catalogs are not that expensive and really help out on ordering the right parts. Now if you want the repair manual be prepared to bend over and take it.

No, it hasn't. My dad took it in for service and they didn't bother to look at that part. When he gets back into town, I will take a look at it. Based on what the diagram showed, it looked like it was #7 on the diagram. He saw where it looked like a couple of wires were sort of melted together in that location, and taped them. That didn't fix it. Let me know if it is indicated by the #7 on the diagram. Based on what I described to him, there are a couple of sensors in that area.

#7 is the sensor There is a actuator/ driver beside it the sensor comes up the driver comes to the side. I can get the part # if you have the ser# of the egnine.

ok, a part number works. Is the part number written in plain view? I will call my dad to see if he can get me the serial number of his engine.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

He found 2 numbers on the engine that look like serial numbers. There is one on the drivers side of the engine that is MXS73971. He said there was another number on the passenger side that is 6CPXH0928EBK.

He also described a couple of parts to me. One of them he described, he said it looks like an oil sending unit found on the older cars. I have never seen an oil sending unit, so he said it looks like a spin top with 3 wires connected to the top of it. Another piece he found, said it looks like a small canister on its side with wires going into one side of it.

Would one of those be it?

    5P-7814 o-ring
    248-2168 sensor
Yeah it looks like an oil sending unit. Actualy that is what it is. It sound like he has found the correct sensor it is locaked next to a canaster looking thing. When he get the sensor make sure he lookes like the same sensor. Older serial # had to uses a jumper harness but his is past the # sequance. but double check. Also it may have an up dated numder starting with a 3
When he need part he need to refire to MXS73971. That is the ser#
