Whats the diff in the 2 ecm,s i ask because i have a shot at a bully dog big rig programmer for nearly nothing but it states ddec 4 and up and mine is ddec3 i thought they were the same so let me know if anyone knows i appreciate all input thanks. Richie

they are different, if they were the same they'd have the same revision number. When DDE makes changes to ecms and the programming level number will change. DDEC 3 is not compatible with 4

Obviously I know as anybody would that there is a difference in the 2 ecms hence the different #,s but whats the difference in the 2 is what i need to know, If i recall correctly they are interchangable the difference may only be and im hoping this to be the case is proccessor speed and things like that.

as far as we now the only difference is the speed and memory. but we also think the extra memory takes care of more timing on the 4 then the 3. both will bolt up, but when u go from a 3 to 4 u have to call detroit and have them change your ecm program from a 3 to 4, so i don't think the bully dog will work for that reason, it will be looking for that extra timing...

A DDEC3 ECM can't be made into a DDEC4 they have different inputs/outputs.You could bolt it on but there would some communication conflicts.
