I'm looking at an International 5900i Daycab that has a C12 Cat 430 hp, 13 speed, & 24.5 rubber. I was wondering if anyone out there has had or does have a similar drivetrain and could tell me what kind of RPM's this truck would turn # 65-70 mph. I haul pulpwood and never go more than 250 miles round trip, obviously I'm out in the woods alot where the going is slooow & rough and think this set up may be nice. I'm just afraid the truck will be screamin' # 60 mph? Any feedback is greatly appreciated...

please give me the rear axel ratio so I can calculate your rpm at the speeds you wanted.

Sorry, i posted it in the title but not in the question. It has 3.90's, I'm not sure if its an OD or a direct tranny, waiting to hear back from seller. Can you figure for both? Its an '02 tractor if that matters...

Assuming it's an OD 13 speed. At a cruise mph of 65 your rpm in top gear would be 1453 rpm. I ran this on asphalt with a flat bed set up with 80,000 lbs on 11R24.5 tires.estimated mpg shows 5.38 at this speed.
Looks like a nice spec. If you need any history on the engine give me a call at 952-887-4582- Greg -
I hate to assume but I can't believe it wouldn't be an OD with 3.90's...I really like this truck & this is the only deciding factor. It only has 162k miles on it and looks beautiful in the pics, hopefully they get back to me w/tranny model # soon...thanks alot for your reply, what would you need to get the engine history...VIN # ?

I run 18spd w/3.91 and 11/24.5. It is a perfect heavy haul spec running 100,000 lbs. It has long enough legs for the big road and enough reduction in the low gears for some off road work.

Well I bought the 02 Int'l I mentioned earlier in the post, really nice truck but am struggling with the Super 10 to 13 spd transition...I have the most rouble going from 4th to 5th. I pre-select high range but it doesn't want to come out of gear unless I clutch it. Any one else had this problem? I've also noticed that the C12 has a very different engine brake, I have to hold the brake pedal for a couple seconds before it engages, is this normal? It doesn't always ingage then either, with my N14 when its on, its on.

the brake pedal thing would annoy the crap out of me
but ive seen people who cant keep from jake shifting and wont shut the swich off so I guess its a possible solution for these typesThe_Great_Corn Thanks this.
