Something's definitely up there. I drove a Western Star with very similar specs and it was in the low 7's consistently.

did anyone ever determine the cause of the poor fuel milage. Have an 05 Western Star the first 3 weeks the fuel milage avg about 5.5 and now it ranges from 4.5 - 5. We have replaced the turbo, ran the overhead twice, replaced the number 4 injector. Someone please help. I know that the fuel is not being stolen. I know it is not the driver. There are no codes that come up when hooked up to the computer. Please someone give me a suggestion. We are about out of options.

Have a dealer pull a DDEC report and see what the idle time is.

I had A 2005 Classic same specs but 373's. I had new injectors installed and mileage fell badly took it back several times to Detroit they say all is well, ended up taking it to another guy who did a top set on it and when re seating the injectorshe jotted down the injector numbers and then checked the ECM and whoever installed them just put a generic code in the computer??? So he put the codes from the actual injectors and voila fuel mileage!! He said some guys just put in a code that dumps lots of fuel in for hp?? I'm not sure how it works but that's the explination I got so you may want to geta top set and see if it is correct or not??

OR, check to see if you driver drives a diesel pickup.....

Looking to buy a 2008 Freightliner Cloumbia with Detroit 14 liter. Or a 2012 peterbuilt with a Paccar. Any information on which would be better. Both trucks have around 450,000 miles on them.
