I use Gabriels, They're the only ones that I know of that have compression and rebound damping and they seem to give the best ride. They are also adjustable for the weight that you'll be carrying. They cost about the same as others so that shouldn't be a big issue.

Have you ever heard of the Road King Heavy Duty Shocks? According to their website, they claim to have a 300,000 mile life on their shocks.
-
Heard of 'em but I'll stick with the ones I'm using now. I've been getting better than 200 K out of them anyway which is my regular shock change interval...Who knows? Maybe they'd get more mileage but I change 'em anyway.

Always used those gabes on our CH Macks when the stockers were done, they were really a good shock and at least in the CH made the ride even better, with those shocks installed the cab was literally rattle free, we were a flat bed operation and off road often, mostly brick deliveries with teledyne on job sites and they always held up to some nasty terrain.will be putting them in the columbia soon but I bet there will still be rattles LOL.

Koni makes a real good adjustable shock, but they are more than the Gabriels. We've had good luck with them and they have a pretty decent warranty as well. The Gabriels are probably the best bang for the buck.

I just went with the standard yellow (monroe i think) shocks I picked up at TruckPro. They were a sight better than the shot ones that came off, they could easily be compressed with one hand. It wouldn't surprise me if they'd never been changed. I had to heat and cut the front right off the stud. I'll have to check into the Gabriel shocks when I get ready to change again.
I tell ya though, probably the single best thing I did that helped ride was get those cheap dynatrac drives off that came one my truck and put some good Michelins on. It was amazing the difference, the sidewalls were so stiff on the old tires they had trouble just removing them.
Also, don't forget the cab shocks on the sleeper... -
I really got looking into those Road King shocks this afternoon.... Only because of their high performance hot rod look.... I never did find a true price on them. But I did see on a RV site that they charge $450 a pair... The ####### better have a lifetime unlimited mileage warranty for that price!
So I then began looking at Monroe & Gabriel. I didn't know the Koni made a truck/trailer shock....
Shocks are on my MUST DO SOON list. Perhaps next month when I'm home or maybe over the Turkey break if the funds are there. I was going to do them this weekend. But decided to change the ST-4 relief valve of my compressor & my charge air cooler hoses/clamps instead.
