Not questioning your expertise V8Lenny, just want to know why? Most say these are "hot" mods in a boosted motor??? Look forward to your thoughts....... Thanks........ david

I cant say what the positives/negatives are when running the sleeves on a modded motor but the purpose of them is to prevent heat energy escaping from the exhaust gas into the cooling system in the cylinder head, this in theory leaves more heat energy in the exhaust gas to spin the turbo up. I have seen a couple of guys with stock 550s ditch the sleeves and they couldn't tell the differnence in power or spool up time.

There was a (very large) bad batch of sleeves, I've done so many turbos because of failed sleeves that I've lost count, the sleeves you get now rarely fail, they are welded internally and externally, much better design.

Yes, after rebuilding one turbo with a sleeve halfway through it.....that was enough. I took all the sleeves out a year or so ago and never looked back. I didn't want to drive down the road wondering when one of the other sleeves was going to let loose. B manifold and no sleeves and be done with it.
