I have nothing against american diesel engines. Is there any other diesel engines you would like to try? Mercedes has a 32 valve 16L V8 I would like to give a shot 560ish hp. Maby a Scania, I do not like the look of the euro trucks, just interested in the engines.
Foreign diesel engines.

I messed with a couple of Scanias in yard in Iraq. They are supposed to be pretty tough.

the problem with foreign motors is that you don't have the service and part support like you do with the domestic motors.

We had a 1988 Scania 40' bus. It had a Scania 238 Hp motor, I think,it was a long time ago.
It had a cool centrifical oil filter , that you only had to pull off and clean. Everything that could leak did.Head gaskets, exhaust, oil fittings, radiator,ac. We paid $118.000 for it and got less than 7 yrs out of it.Even though at the time it was built in Orange Ct.,all parts had to come from Sweden. -
After running a few of the mercedes motors that freightliner offered, I want nothing to do with anything out of europe. The last motor I ran was a 425 C-12 Cat with well over a million miles and no major work had ever been done on it. The motor i'm running now is a 450 mercedes with 510,000 miles on it and it don't pull nearly as good and ain't half as reliable as the Cat was.
