Well, I thought I did. Im about determined my truck will not idle unless the outside temperature is either below 20 or above 80.

But, am I understanding you correctly that your truck's ECM is set up the same way with the 20, 80 stuff?

What did you mean by pushing the pedal down after the lights come on and before pushing the override button 3 times? I tried doing that, bumpin the idle up to a hundred rpms over normal idle, waited for the lights to flash, pushed the pedal down to the floor, let up and pushed the override button 3 times and nothing. After 3 minutes, the lights came back on indicating the motor was about to shut off.

How do you do that, with a laptop? If so, they supposedly have that stuff coded so that you cant without the password.

What do you mean by "ramp"? Are you saying that the rpms should increase by pushing the decel button once? Also, when you say to turn the cruise on, am I supposed to run the high idle or just tuen the cruise on and hit the decel button?

With mine, I believe it is. And if it is infact IS, I think thats how they get away with it because its not like my truck wont idle for en extended period at all, it will, but only if the outside temperature is below 20 degrees or above 80 degrees. If its below 80 or above 20, they figure you dont need AC or if its above 20, thats why we have the bunk heater.

Actually, I figured out what you meant about the rpm ramping up but isn't there more to it? I tried your trick last night but the lights still came on and shut the motor off.

A Cascadia ECM is the same regardless of whether it's DD15 or 60 Series, as mine is. All I have to do is turn on the cruise and then push the decel button. I control the idle speed with the decel and accel buttons on the steering wheel. If I so much as rest my foot on any of the pedals, my idle will shut off.

If this doesn't work on your truck, it sounds like your company disabled it. You may need to take it up with them. 80 degrees seems a bit high to disable your a/c because we all know that 80 outside is going to be closer to 95 inside a vehicle. These %$#& companies that want to save a buck here and there and don't care about driver well-being!

Do you mind if I ask what company it is?

See, this is why I feel the only way I can idle is when the temperature is either below or above what's set in the computer. It doesn't sound like your truck and even the other guys truck is setup the same as mine if you can pretty much idle in any temperature.

But, I highly doubt that the ecms are the same because the dd15 is way different from the 60 series. I could see some similarities between the dd15 and the dd13 but even in that case, I'm sure there are some differences within the parameters.

I wish it were that easy but they do this because I spose they feel that idling between those two temps is unnecessary and wasting fuel. I like how they think they know what I call freezin to death and burnin up.

England. I'm pretty sure that even as L/Os we have to put up with this is because we only have to pay for a portion for the fuel we buy.

But atleast when we're in houston in august and in wyoming in january we have no problem makin the truck idle. I mean hell, we're team drivers for petes sake. We don't idle that much to begin with but there's still times where even though its not blistering hot or freezing cold that we need to charge the batteries or keep them charged when we fire up the toaster oven. At least we have a little charging cable to hook between the jump posts on the trucks framerail and the reefer battery but sometimes that's more trouble than its worth.

This worked for my 09 Cascadia. I had my ignition switch go out and couldn't start it. I roll started it and had to constantly monitor it so I could get loaded b4 I stopped at Freightliner. Thanks for the info.
91° outside but other options didn't work.

well, I understand, truck is new but I do not think ECM is locked with password, so you can easily disable ore change delay of shut down timer.

Well, if it is locked, look for good tuner who has DDRS and he can change timer parameters easily.

The ECM is not the same for these two engines. The engine ECM which is called MCM (motor control module) is different for each engine and also different for different EPA years. On anything 2010 EPA and newer you can not override the shutdown. There are only two ways to prevent the truck from shutting down after 3-5 min. This is done so that the manufacturer can meet the EPA regulations. First is PTO mode in which the PTO has to be engaged. The second way is to unplug a wire under the dash. I think this is where it plugs into the cab computer but not sure and can't seam to find anyone to tell me.

Need to take it to the diesel doctor in little Rock ar and have that feature turned off or adjust the settings for you. He don't charge that much but well worth it.
