We are looking at 2 379's. One is an 04 with a c15 475-1750 MBN engine in it, 3.55 rears 13spd. Truck only has 388k on it. Seems really clean. The other ones are old TMC petes. 2007 379 short hoods with 475-1850's, 3.36 rears with 13spd. All the TMC trucks are under 400k. They want $44,900 for the 04 and $55,900 for the 07's. I know the MBN's have some issues. What are the most common and what are the fixes? I have heard new mufflers and a 6NZ ECM. I just know my boss isn't gonna want to screw around with "upgrading" a truck. Should we just skip the 04 MBN or is reflashing it not that costly? Which would be the better overall truck? Thanks
c15 bridge or accert?

IF it were me, I would choose the MBN over the 07's anyday. The biggest turn off for me on the newer trucks, 3.36 rears, I might see that for a triple digit truck with it pushing 700+ hp, IMO.

So can the MBN's ecm be reflashed to a 6nz program or does it need to be replaced with the 6nz ecm? If it can be reflashed who does it? Will Cat? Also what free flow mufflers are you guys buying? I am having a hard time finding the correct ones. Dynaflex seems like the only ones so far that offer a good sounding free flow muff.

Also I have had zero issues with either the MBN or either Acert's I've got. The MBN has around 650k with no issues and the '06 C15 Acert has 350k with just a few sensor issues and a loose VVA wire in the head. The '04 C13 has just under 500k with only a blown bellow between the turbos and one broken manifold bolt. -
Is the 07 a NXS engine, if so its good, If its an SDP, it will have the DPF.
-
I believe the 07 is an NXS engine. I thought they weren't putting DPF's on until the 389's came out in 08? Those also had the larger exhaust from the factory which these 07's don't.

MBN IS JUNK!!!!! That's just my opinion. After fighting it for over a year, I got out of the truck. Check the forum posts for other guys that had problems or spent a bunch of money to get 6NZ results.

As an ex TMC driver I'd pass on the ex TMC trucks, especially if they're DPF-equipped. Likely as not they've been beat on by a succession of novices, they're all twin-turbo ACERTs and at least how TMC set them they're terrible on fuel. That and TMC is rather proud of them and it shows in the asking price.

Found an '04 T600 for sale w/ an MBN C15 & checked the mileage on the ecm, it was 6.66. Maybe they aren't junk, just possessed!

So did you guys go with the MBN or NXS?
