To the trucker wana be who is trashing International trucks.it sounds to me like nothing is good enough for you,I run two International trucks one has a max force 10L which has been a dud and the other has a max force 13L which is an awsome engine lots of power and torque never lets me down and as far as the cab goes you will never find a more solid and sound proof cab my cabs have no air leaks and the windows close tight at any speed.International builds a very high quality truck

*In response to "Diesel Weasel" regarding International Prostar and Maxxforce 13L.
It seems as though the issues you speak of are nothing more than a response to your personal vandeta against International. I am curious to know the following:
How many trucks do you own?
How many other OEM trucks have you driven? (over 100,000km)
As the Director of Fleet Operations for a sizeable company (400 tractors), I have first hand experience and a library of qualitative data that strongly contradicts your opinion of International Prostars and Maxxforce 13's.
Our number one objective for reducing operating costs is attracting quality drivers and properly maintaining the condition of our truck equipment. Prostars with Maxxforce 13's have A) allowed us to operate a truck drivers love and B) Prostars are, far and above, the most cost effective tractors for any size fleel; fuel mileage, operating cost, ease of service, parts availability, dealer group etc.
I can honestly say, in my experience with International and all other OEMs - every manufacturer has problems. Peterbilt, Kenworth, Volvo (especially), Freightliner, and International. However, International from the dealer level all the way to our regional managers have supported our equipment across Canada better than any other manufacturer.
Diesel Weasel - it is easy for people to lose sight of what truly matters - service. Regardless of OEM, trucks have problems and International stands behind their product. You sound like the type of guy that wouldn't know what satisfied meant if it slapped you in the face.
Goodluck trying other OEMS.2013Maxx Thanks this. -
The maxxforce egr was so cost effective they stopped making it .
ps with 400 trucks any oem would kiss your butt, try being a 1 truck operation ....Last edited: Jun 14, 2013

I can say the 2013's are no better.
Mine has about 120k on it and I can hardly stand it.
My favorite part of it is how in every gear (Eaton 10) except 8th I can pull 2k or more, 8th is limited too 1400, that's 34 mph. I don't normally rev past 1800 but merging on too the freeway can be a head ach since it bogs in 9th.
I do find that there jake is slightly better then what has been said. -
Well, that is the fault of the owner, not the engine. An individual owner could disable the RPM limiter. Not sure why you need to push 2K rpms on much of anything since the mid 90's. I have a Detroit 12.7 that I never press to 2K. Torque and HP are both dropping before that even on a 13L. The 15L's even more so. There is no power advantage to going that high. Even 1800, except maybe when trying to get max out of jakes on a down hill or on a very tough pull on a grade to be able to grab the next gear before speed drops off too much, is senseless any more. You would probably have a different perspective if you were paying the bills.

1600 is max anymore and you should find another job that makes you happy.

My maxxforce 10 will only do 65mph at 1600 rpm in 10th.. They say powerband is from 11-1600 but mine won't pick up any power until 1600
