    More Power From 8V92 Mechanical

    Hey guys looking for some info on how to get more horsepower from a 8V92 mechanical any suggestions and answers greatly appreciated.

    Are you woking it,( hope not!) Pulling it, or racing it?( Yes they can be built to make big power ).

    A friend of mine is running it in a ten wheel dumpjust looking for some more power out of it,but any info you caan provide I am very interested in.thanks for the reply.

    Natural or turbo ? What blower is on it and what size injectors ??

    Turbo,not sure what blower I will find out,injectors that are in it 9295.thanks for the reply.

    Ya I drove a 1978 Kenworth K100 with a 445HP 8V 92. You hand to down shift at 1800RPM or it would fall on its face fast. Cruseing RPM was 1950or higher. (LOL! imagine a newbee trying to get down the pike with one of these!) Had very low torque at idle. You could'nt just let out on the clutch it would stall. It made noise though! Could hardly listen to the raido, and with the jake on high ( all 4 stages ) the vibration was so intence you could'nt see in the mirrors. They were some units. Not sure on all the HP ratings but I know of a 430,445, and 475silver series. Not sure on torque but the 445 I drove had a trans. rated at 1250 FT LBS but I dont think it made that much.

    The last ones I saw were in milk trucks, our hauler had one with a full tandem and a pusher, and 475 horsepower. It was the fastest truck he had, the 450 horsepower Series 60 he replaced it with didn't have as much get up and go. This would have been in the late 80s to early 90s.

    Those engines had trouble leaking coolant into the oil if I remember right.

    They leaked every fluid every where didn't they! Ya they ran good if you kept the speed up. Just cant imagine trying to lug a dump truck over soft or muddy ground. Seems like you would need to leave it in low and keep the revs up or it would die, not to mension getting it rolling in the soft stuff. No wonder this driver wants more power. Hope its geared low as hell!

    9295 injectors are,nt a really good injector for transport - have a habit of splitting nozzles better for marine - 9A98 would be your starting injector
