I have both vehicles in my fleet. The Volvo is a better truck for driver comfort and the cab is not as noisy as the Century.

Our Volvo has an ISX 450Hp 24.5 tires and 13 speed
The Century Detroit S60 14ltr 22.5 low profile tires and a 10 SPD

The Cummins out pulls the Detroit. However there has to be something wrong with the Detroit, it only get's 5.4mpg with 80,000lbs and 5.7 empty.

Also the Century is almost 3,000lbs lighter then the Volvo.
    I would take the Volvo.

Read about all the problems others have had with Volvo electrical systems, engines, dealer repairs, etc.

The Freightliner is a 10 wheeled beer can but a better truck IMHO. The Detroit is good but the EGR systems have had problems (as have every emission engine... another example of government run wild). Parts and service for either truck sucks...

I wouldn't buy either... but a Volvo is heavy and it cost's money to drag around that weight.

I would much rather have a ISX under the hood, than a detroit. And I bet that volvo's ecm would tell ya it gets better fuel milage than the freightliner.

I'm currently having engine problems that nobody can fix with my ISX in my volvo. everybody is whilling to take my money but when the rubber hits the road, It's still not fixed. I'm feed up with cummins, I wrote numerous letters complaining about there service networks abusing me and they write me back telling me that they're the only ones who can fix it... obviously they didn't read my email... grrrrr... I'm sure frieghtliner isn't no better, and I know everyone has there own opinion but my next truck will be based on the service department I like, which happens to be an international dealer located just down the road from me. They treated me honest with my truck and told me the chances of fixing my truck arnt very good untill the problem gets worse and that I should run it as long as I can the way it is.

my advise is visit your local dealers find one you like and buy one of there trucks no matter what brand it is. They're all over engineered pieces of crap so, you mise well like the people who are fixing it.
