    You always need it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to remember that you're constantly improving upon this project and as you out grow one part you need the next new part.......horsepower is always needing the next part to increase it's presences..........if you remember this during your negotiations......then it is no longer a want, but a need. As you change things it requires that you change more things......more fuel.........than ya need more air(bigger turbo)...........see the logic behind the constant circle of madness in my world
I find only one flaw in your theory...my wife is a school teacher. So she pretends to not know anything until the big price tags come up for purchase. Then she starts talking smack about my "NEEDS" versses what is able to get the job completed. So far it the only thing she really dragged me through the wringer for is the custom Lipe clutch...mostly since my last truck had 995,483 miles on the original clutch when I sold it(but that truck had a underpowered Detroit in it).

Then my dear friend Donna thought she'd join my wife in having fun(while joining my wife in the smartazz club) and post it on YouTube for the rest of the world to see my eccentric nature when horsepower is involved
That video was great and made my morning. It reminded me so much of my house. Thanks for the link

Yeah I got in trouble for cleaning out my Spinner 2 bypass filter in the kitchen sink. My punishment was to cook supper every night that I was home that week. After the week was over she realized the mess I made cleaning the filter was smaller than the mess I created cooking...now I'm only allowed to cook outside on the grill

I didn't have any of the specs of how the joint mated with the cast iron elbow...........so I ordered an elbow from Perkins to see how to make my flange adapter to except a standard 5.75" full marmon exhaust pipe.

That turbo resides on my truck now..........that was another one of those needs...........not wants
Is that a 5" outlet? its hard to tell without seeing it in person.

I think I have the flange you need, its for the 5" outlets on the older T18 AiResearch chargers as well as some of the Large frame holsets, I got mine from columbus diesel if you ever need another one.

My wife isn't mechanically inclined and refuses to get her nails dirty..........she's smart though, as she is a CPA along with a whole lot of other letters behind her name........but her lack of interest in the mechanical side of things allows me the option to say everything is a need..........as long as the profit and loss reports always have a postive number on the bottom line, she doesn't care.

I think you've won the battle of the kitchen sink...........you may have not intended for this outcome, but I think you came out ahead on that deal

It's 5.16" half mormon flange. Yes it was used on Cummins Industrial enginges. I could buy a flange from Cummins, but the outlet pipe was 6" instead of 5". The flange from Cummins was $325 with shipping and then I'd needed to retro fit the 5" pipe to it. I built a adapter for $450 that went from the 5.16" half mormon flange to the standard 5.75" full mormon flange that's on all CAT engines. This let me use my existing exhaust pipe elbow out of the turbo in the exact same location and makes it easy to change to my big turbo without having to work hard at it. I was also worried about heat on this adapter and used 4130 Chrome Moly seamless tubing 6"OD x 4"ID x 2' long........you talk about an expensive piece of steel. I was able to make 5 of these adapters from this piece and sold all of them to other hp junkies

I think I gave a almost 80 for mine, and I don't believe there is enough metal there to warrant that price. What I don't get is why they keep changing stuff, you know it's no better than a traditional style flange, just something to make you have to buy more parts.

Here is the finished project mocked up on................you guessed it the kitchen table. In this photo, I was concerned that the compressor housing wouldn't clear the manifold and that I'd have to make a spacer to go between the manifold and turbo. As you can see it cleared.

Is that the manifold you're running on the truck, now?

Mr. Haney, that pic reminds me of my ex-brother-in-law bringing his Harley into the living room every spring to get it ready to roll for the summer! His wife didn't object in the least either! Too funny! I've used the dining table to rebuild a carb or two for cars in the past.

Yes that manifold is on the truck now. It has roughly an extra hour on the extrude hone equipment this opened the mounting flange ports to match the gasket. I then had to port the exhaust housing flange ports to match. BW is supposed to be coming out with smaller A/R exhaust housings later this year for this turbo. This would allow you to run that turbo on smaller Hp engines.

I thought you had the bigger manifold on it.

How much clearance is between the turbo and manifold? It looks close. Don't look like it would fit on one of the big manifolds?
